Your time in Wonderland
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a wonderful hour of fun and music for the family. It is an operatic experience like no other and we thought we would point out a few useful things so that you get the best out of your visit. The performance will take place on what is known as the Yucca Lawn next to the North Lawn behind Holland House – please see the map below – and each scene setting changes, which means the audience move with the performance. It is a lot of fun and really brings the production to life. We will provide cushions for sitting on the ground but it can be a little dusty/or damp so best not to put the kids in their Sunday best. Adults are also asked to sit please so that our singers and musicians can see each other. Lots of visitors have a picnic on the area outside of the Yucca Lawn before the show but we don’t unfortunately allow picnics inside the performance area. The start time of the performance is 3pm and we kick off quite promptly, so please do be on time.
Pushchairs, buggies and scooters
We would advise those with buggies to park them outside the Yucca perimeter in our buggy park where they will be looked after by our steward. If your child is very young and needs to be in the pushchair we will allow that but it is best not to have empty buggies in the performance area if at all possible.
The nearest toilets are located by the Stable Yard and the playground, near the Park café. We would encourage you to take your children before coming to us at the gate so they don’t miss out on any of the performance.
Should the weather be unhelpful, we will move the performance into the theatre. This is a slightly different set up of course – with no moving around – but you will get a great performance of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. If we are able to make the decision to move early in the day, we will attempt to contact all of you before hand to let you know that you should go to the theatre instead. However, if we do not contact you and the performance has moved, there will be staff on hand to guide you in the right direction.
